Lesvos Treasures will take part in the educational seminar dedicated to promoting student tourism in Lesvos, which will be held in Athens on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at Athens One Smart Hotel.

The event is organized under the auspices of the Region of North Aegean, the Municipality of Mytilene, the Municipality of Western Lesvos, the Lesvos Chamber of Commerce, the Secondary Education Directorate of Lesvos, the Archdiocese of Athens, and the Holy Metropolis of Mytilene.

The aim of the seminar is to highlight the opportunities that Lesvos offers for both domestic and international student tourism, through innovative initiatives, educational communities, and experiential learning.

During the event, the Lesvos Treasures team will present how innovation, interactivity, and gamification can become powerful tools of knowledge and exploration. Through its pioneering treasure hunt game and tourist guide, discovering Lesvos is transformed into an exciting learning experience that combines history, culture, nature, and local traditions.

Having already surpassed 25,000 users within just three months, with strong engagement from the local community, Lesvos Treasures demonstrates that educational tourism can become a growth pillar for Lesvos, while also boosting the local economy and enhancing the island’s visibility.

The keynote speaker of the seminar will be Professor Nikos Zouros of the University of the Aegean, Director of the Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest, and Chair of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network Bureau, with a talk titled: “Lesvos Geopark: An Ideal Educational Destination for Sustainable Development.”

Additional presentations will be delivered by teachers who have implemented educational programs on Lesvos, such as Ms. Kaiti Zilleli (Kalyvia Senior High School) and Ms. Elpida Chantzopoulou (Kalyvia Senior High School), providing real-life examples of how education can be linked with the island’s culture and nature.

We extend our warmest thanks to the organizers of the seminar, and especially to Mr. Theodoros Kouskos, President of Optimum Target, for his valuable contribution in supporting initiatives that give new momentum to student tourism on our island.

With the vision of turning the promotion and development of our land into a “game with only winners,” we continue with determination to build bridges between education, culture, and tourism.
